Fifth Grade Experience

Special Invitiation for 5th Grade Parents from Brown PTO:
Navigating the Cyber World
Tuesday, January 24, 7:00-8:15pm
Snow date Wednesday, January 25
Brown Middle School Auditorium

Presentation sponsored by Brown Middle School and the Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc.  Geared for parents, this workshop reviews the challenges that may arise through use of the Internet, social media and smart phones. It is important for parents to be aware of the popular apps, social media sites and programs used by youth online. This workshop, lead by an attorney in the Middlesex DA’s office, explains the issues and possible consequences from cyber bullying, sexting and revealing identifying information to strangers. We welcome all parents/guardians of 5th graders at Mason-Rice, Countryside, Williams and Angier to attend.

About the Fifth Grade Experience

There are special opportunities and activities that Fifth Graders enjoy at Countryside – with their parents’ (your) help, of course. With any questions, or to volunteer, please contact the class co-chairs:

Donations

The PTO generously allocates some funds to subsidize the cost of producing and printing the 5th Grade Yearbook, but there are many additional expenses incurred for our activities.

We hope you will support our efforts to help give our children a fun and memorable send-off as a reward for all their hard work during their years at Countryside. For the 2016–2017 school year, we are suggesting a donation of $50–60 per student, but of course, any amount — larger or smaller — will be gratefully accepted.

You can donate online through PayPal using the button above, or by check. If you are donating by check, please make your check out to: “Countryside PTO – 5th Grade” and send it to school with the dues form [PDF] in an envelope addressed to: “Countryside 5th Grade Committee.”

Fifth Grade Special Events:

Hunger Banquet: A program created by Oxfam America to help students gain a better understanding of human differences and the impact of world hunger. The event is held in November.

Fifth Grade Field Day: Field Day is a fun offsite day of games and activities meant to build camaraderie. June, 2017.

Class Party: The 5th grade party kicks off our kids’ final months at Countryside. This year’s party will be held on March 17th. We are looking for volunteers to help plan, set up, supervise and clean up.  This is a big event and we need your help.

Please Volunteer!

Move-Up Ceremony: This is a very special day for the kids to celebrate their accomplishment. The day includes an audio-visual presentation, a program, the presentation of a class gift to the school, and a lovely post-graduation reception for the 5th Graders and their families. The ceremony will take place June, 2017.
